Overview of Role: Our client based in Co Louth/ Meath is seeking an Environment, Health and Safety Manager on a full-time permanent basis.
Tilte: Environment, Health and Safety Manager Reporting to: The General Manager
Scope of the Role:
Responsible for managing the ongoing compliance with relevant environment and health and safety legislation and assist in the generation and maintenance of a genuine compliance culture.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
The environment, health and safety manager are responsible for maintaining compliance with relevant environment and health and safety permits, authorisations and legislation through liaising with local authorities and other regulators and consultation with facility management teams and implementing preventative and corrective programmes as required.
Incident management and reporting including design and implementation of control measures and monitoring corrective actions.
Organising and implementing environmental monitoring programmes including calibrations, appointment of consultants, document review and reporting to facility management and regulators.
Preparation and submission of all regulatory reports including environmental monitoring reports, annual environmental reports, facility permit compliance reports, green waste shipment reconciliation reports, TFS applications and authorisation/permit reviews and technical amendments.
Health and safety management including document preparation and review, occupational health, PPE, job instructions, procedures, safety committee and emergency response management
Organising and implementing in-house and statutory training, education and awareness programmes.
Monitoring and control of sub-contractor environmental, health and safety management documents.
Health and safety hazard and risk identification and control through various programmes including risk assessments, method statements, training, education, awareness, design and implementation of engineering and procedural controls.
Accident/incident investigation and reporting and maintaining statistical database to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Identification of opportunities for cost reduction in management of environment, health and safety issues and obligations.
Implementation and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001: 2015, Health and Quality Management System ISO 9001: 2015 to ensure ongoing certification and identify and implement improvement opportunities. Prepare for application to achieve Safety Management System ISO 45001: 2018
Ongoing internal reporting of environmental and health and safety issues and progress to General Manager and production of formal monthly environment and health and safety reports.
Assist with the preparation of tenders for Waste Management Contracts as necessary.
Qualifications:
Professional Qualification in an Environmental Engineering and/or Science or equivalent.
Health and Safety qualification is desirable.
Knowledge / Skills:
The applicant should have 2+ years’ relevant work experience and be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:
Experience of managing facility permit/licence compliance
Organising environmental monitoring and health and safety training programmes
Risk identification and control
Identification of liabilities and remedial measures
Project management of remedial measures including infrastructural and procedural programmes
Implementation and maintenance of ISO management systems
Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Personal Qualities:
Highly motivated individual;
An ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative;
The individual should be well organised and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A high level of competence in relation to environment and health and safety issues is expected.
